Being Healed By Looking At The Bronze Snake

Faith is at the heart of the Christian life. To be forgiven of our sins, Paul said, “For by grace you are saved through faith…”(Ephesians 2). Hebrews 12:1 says we must live by faith… “Without faith it is impossible to please God.”
We find an example of faith in Numbers 21.
Moses decided to change the route Israel was taking and the people began to complain. They asked, “Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in this wilderness?” Then the said, “..There is nothing to eat here and nothing to drink. And we hate this terrible manna.”
Well, the Lord became angry with Israel and He sent poisonous snakes among the people and many of the people were bitten and died. The people cried out to Moses and Moses prayed to God. God told Moses to make a replica of a snake and put it on a pole. Then, the Israelites were told to look at the bronze snake and they would live.
What was it about looking at the bronze snake that saved the people? It was a look of faith. In John 3:14-15 Jesus said, “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life.”
So, Israel was told to look in faith at the brass snake and they would be healed. Man is spiritually healed by faith today. If man looks to Jesus, He can be forgiven of His sins.
Maybe you know these scriptures and you believe them but, you struggle with faith. You aren’t alone; the disciples struggled as well. On one occasion they told the Lord, “we do believe; help our unbelief.”
Maybe you have tried to find happiness or healing in other things. Maybe through travel or leisure. There is nothing wrong with those but, they won’t save you.
The people of Israel were healed by looking at the bronze snake. We are healed by looking to and receiving Jesus as our Savior.

  1. You Sir…….. are Arrogant, Thin Skinned and Childish. You really do set yourself up as God and refuse to be challenged by anyone. You believe your opinions to be above those of everyone else. I don’t think you’ve been Humbled – by this entire experience. I’d suggest that your lack of humility – is what is keeping you out of the Pulpit. One day you’ll look back and see my statement as being correct. Beware the Leaders that only surround themselves with “Yes Men”. Why would they do anything else when everything that utters from their mouths is irrefutable truth? How Long Gregg Potts will you (and I) kick against the Goads?

    1. Jeff:: I’m thin-skinned wants to attack me which is what you do. I will converse with you as gentlemen But I’m not taking the attack’s any more. If you will notice, there are others in that thread who disagree with me. Their posts are still there. So I can take disagreement but not attacks.

      1. I stand by what I said. Really? You will converse with me like a gentleman? Perhaps the others would be interested to know that you blocked me on FaceBook. You messaged me and admonished me to only challenge you in Private. Then you blocked me when I continued to challenge your very Public Posts. You are like a Pharisee who stands on a soapbox and pontificates. Woe be it unto anyone who might challenge the great god that you worship – that god is – the almighty Gregg Potts.
