Let me ask you something; what is your attitude when you see someone standing at an intersection with a sign that says, “Hungry, will work for food?”
Do you turn your head to ignore them? Do you assume you know that person’s life story and you think, “Well, it’s probably someone who has blown all their money.. If I give them money, they will probably waste it.”
Or, do you dig into your pockets, find some money, roll your window down and help the person?
I realize that there are times when people take advantage of us. But, that’s between them and the Lord. If we see that is hungry… we should help them.
Psalms 41:1 says, “Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor..”
We are God’s people. We are the hands and feet of Jesus on this earth. If Jesus were on earth, how would He respond to poor people? He would offer to help them. We should do the same.
James 2:16 says, if we see someone in need and say to them, “If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?”
Today, if you see someone in need, if you have the means, help them. Don’t try to figure out if they are lying. Don’t try to figure out their life story. Just help them.
Jesus said, “If you do it to the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me” (Matt. 25:45).
