Have you ever been accused of something? Most of us have. Maybe there was a time when you legitimately did something wrong. I mean, you messed up and someone told on you or, brought your mistake to the attention of your supervisor. The charges were correct because you had messed up.
But maybe there have been other times when someone accused you of something but you didn’t do it. Maybe someone even used you as a scapegoat to cover their mistake.
In the book of Zechariah, the Bible says, Satan, the accuser makes accusations against Jeshua. “Then the angel showed me Jeshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord. The Accuser, Satan, was there at the angel’s right hand, making accusations against Jeshua. And the Lord said to Satan, “I, the Lord, reject your accusations, Satan. Yes, the Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebukes you” (Zechariah 3:1-2).
This could very well be you and me. As we stand before God, Satan, the accuser, brings accusations against us. But, Jesus steps in as our advocate and we are forgiven.
You know… I’m not a perfect person by any stretch. I am a sinner saved by grace. I can’t stand before the Lord and say, “Lord, you ought to make one exception and let ‘ole Gregg Potts in heaven because I’m a good person. I wouldn’t hurt a flee… Lord you ought to let me in.”
But that’s not going to happen. My righteousness is as filthy rags. But thank the Lord, I have an advocate and His name is Jesus.
So, when Satan brings those accusations against us… bad thought life….. premarital sex… extra-marital sex… failing to tithe… on and on and on we could go… Jesus steps in and says, “Lord, yes, those accusations are right but, my blood has covered his sin.”
